Be YOU

Be yourself is a statement we've all heard throughout our entire life. That's because those two words hold weight. In society we all want to find somewhere to fit in at the end of the day. But, if we have to compromise on who we really are can it really be considered fitting in? In my opinion, you can't fully fit in somewhere that you truly don't belong. Its like trying to put a square block through a circle. It doesn't work. If you're not being yourself without any hesitations or inhibitions then you're not really fitting in. Its only pretend. Being yourself doesn't feel all that simple sometimes either. Making friends isn't as easy as it used to be. Especially as you get older. People start acting funny and not really putting in the effort to get to know you. They talk about you and decide you're not worth hanging around. Those are the same people who are usually the most miserable.

I used to try and fit in by acting like everyone else around me. I wanted them to like me. It was tiring pretending I was someone I wasn't. I'm a sappy person and I thought I had to hide that part of myself for people to like me. As I got older I stopped caring as much what people thought of me and I found people who accepted me for who I am. It was freeing being able to just be me and not have to put on a persona. I've learned that other peoples opinions of you don't matter. Its more about what you think of yourself. If there's a certain way you like to dress than do it! If you want to learn how to knit or dance or whatever else don't be ashamed to pursue it. People are always going to have something to say. Its up to you whether you want to receive the words they say or not. My advice to you...

Just be you. Because no one can do that better than you.
